Type-A Terms of Use

Terms governing the Type-A website, application, and open-source distribution.

1. Scope

Type-A is a free desktop application for local speech recognition. The website provides product information, installers, source links, and legal information.

2. License

Type-A source code is distributed under the MIT License published at https://github.com/Bogdanuck/Type-A. Model files, Electron, sherpa-onnx, and other dependencies may have separate licenses that users must follow.

3. Acceptable use

  • comply with law, third-party rights, and operating-system rules;
  • obtain required consent before recording another person's speech, calls, or system audio;
  • do not use the application for covert surveillance, interception, or unlawful data processing;
  • review recognized text before relying on or publishing it.

4. Accuracy and compatibility

Recognition may contain errors and depends on the model, language, microphone, noise, and device resources. Windows is the primary stable platform; macOS and Linux builds may be labeled beta with system-audio or direct-input limitations.

5. Updates and external downloads

The application may check GitHub Releases and download updates. Models are downloaded from GitHub or Hugging Face. Their availability and terms are controlled by their respective providers.

6. No warranties

The software is provided “as is” without warranties of continuity, accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or data preservation to the extent permitted by law. Users are responsible for backups and their use of recognized text.

7. Limitation of liability

The owner is not liable for indirect losses, data loss, recognition errors, third-party models or services, or use contrary to these Terms, except where liability cannot be excluded by law.

8. Website and feedback

Attacks, restriction bypass, malicious automation, and interference with the site are prohibited. Issues and contributions are also governed by GitHub rules and the project license.

9. Changes and law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Russian Federation. The current version is published here; questions may be sent to dev@assistgroup.tech.
